I have basically the same car. I have a couple 72s. Anyway those wheel wells I sanded down like you did then I used Por 15 on them and they came out awesome. Been on there for 3 yrs still look amazing. I used Por 15 on pretty much everything that I wanted black. I like it because it goes such a long way. Has a nice clear shine to it as well. Anyway a metal rust inhibitor used on plastic wheel wells who knew ?

If you have the hood clearance, use the Victor. The Torker is OK, but it's ancient and the plenum is small. It'd be interesting to see a dyno test or some track times between the Torker and the Speedmaster. I stopped racing 12 years ago and just do restorations now, but I had a Victor on my 468 Olds and the car ran 9.30 @ 148. Low speed performance was great.

Hi Robert! I have followed you for years in your shoes tutorials! I'm also a "petrol head" and have been closely watched your transformation of the Cutlass! Terrible starting pint of hidden nightmares, but your starting to pull it all together now! Imperfections there will always be on a project like this, but as yourself mentioned its you and you only who determine what's good enough for yourself! I would perhaps put a bit attention to the roof drain molds (inside), which seem to be a bit on the rough side in respect to overall finish. Well done Sir and looking forwards to see the end result! Kind regards Jørn from Norway.

Hi Robert. I enjoy all your content. My question is why you would not just replace the front fenders with new A and D reproduction fenders from summit? They seam reasonably priced and the time savings would have been huge. I am in a similar situation and i havent decided witch way to go. Its eith patch panels on both or replace them. Thanks.

Robert, thank you for this very informative video. I knew Topys/sole protectors existed, but didn't have any idea of all the different brands out there. I do have one pair of Italian loafers that are of glued/cemented construction that had the Topys (in this case, not the generic Topys, but the actual Topy branded sole protectors). I was thinking of having them removed and then trying to convert them to either Blake/insole stitched leather soles, or even having them converted over to a Goodyear Welted shoe (if even possible). After this video, I'm just going to wear them as is, and when they get thin, just replace the Topys. This shoe is extremely light and elegant, so the very thin Topy brand sole protectors are appropriate for this application. I also have recently inherited my dad's shoes. He used to work as a sales person at a higher end mens store (1960s-early 2000s) when they were still around. There is a total of about 35-40 pairs of shoes in all. Some are in great shape, some not so much. One pair is a brand called Louis Phillipe. I don't know if it is a well known brand or not, but somebody went to town on this pair. The uppers are tooled leather (in an elegant way), they are fully leather lined, and they have not only a leather layer on the inside of the heel, but a suede layer on top of that. They are obviously of European origin, being Oxfords, but have a chisel toe. I don't have much else. The inner sole is also leather with the name of the brand and in larger letters Luxure. Even the sole bottom is engraved, not just with the maker's name and the Luxure logo, but more of the same type of leather tooling as the uppers have on the forward part of the sole. There is some wear to the sole, but the stitches are fully intact and have some way to go before they will contact the bottom of the shoe surface. The only real issue is that the shoes are Blake/Insole stitched because there really is no welt to speak of. I am thinking of either trying to get them converted over to Goodyear Welted shoes, or just adding sole protectors to them. I know that these shoes can only be resoled maybe 2-3 times before they must have the inner sole replaced, so I think that using a sole protector will be a big help in making sure these shoes are usable longer term. Is my thinking OK with this?

Thanks for sharing this video with me, I totally enjoyed seeing it and your olds cutlass which I owned at least 25 cutlasses when I was younger and I loved all of them, they were very powerful machines and had a awesome body style and very reliable and my first old's 71 cutlass that I bought from a good friend in highschool cost me $1000 and looked very much like the one that u have in the video and mine didn't have any rugs in it and the front fenders were primered but the rest of the car was without any issues, so I began to work on it and added a lot of goodies and I took it to the Atco speedway in Atco new jersey and it ran low 12's in the 1/4 mile and I was very impressed with that so I was hooked on cuttlass's ever since then, enjoy your build and have a blast from the past 💪😎👍❤️

The original Chili Brown factory color was gorgeous, now they look like a pair of ghastly old Thom McAn's. Sorry, but have to be honest, they look dull and uninteresting. Safir polishes are too strong and in this case, they have overwhelmed what was a lovely finish into a mess. Suggest stripping off what you have done in this case. BTW, I picked up nearly new pair of Allen Edmonds Randolph loafers in the Chili Brown for $6.99 at the Goodwill. I won't change the color.
